Building a Community

Viltrakis was founded with the belief that good people doing good work can make some great things. We’re grateful to have a team that is committed to working with a spirit of excellence. Meet some of the faces behind the Viltrakis design build team.

  • Founder

Born on the California coast, Joey's connection to building began early. Constructing skateboard ramps as a child and helping his parents remodel homes throughout his youth, Joey has always been hands-on and skilled at bringing ideas into reality. After years perfecting his craft with local custom builders, Joey founded Viltrakis Design Build in 2021 with a clear mission: To create generational homes that honor Humboldt County's unique challenges while serving families for decades to come. A devoted husband to his wife Michelle and father to three young children, Joey approaches each project with the understanding that homes are where life's most important moments unfold. From morning coffee to family gatherings, his structures provide both beauty and uncompromising protection against Humboldt's coastal elements.

  • Foreman

A true Humboldt native born at Redwood Memorial Hospital, Alex discovered his passion for construction through his early interests in drawing and architectural drafting. After graduating from College of the Redwoods and exploring various trades, Alex found his calling in custom home building at Friesen Design Build before joining Joey to establish Viltrakis Design Build. With meticulous attention to detail and deep local knowledge, Alex ensures every project meets the exacting standards required for homes that will withstand generations of Humboldt weather while maintaining their beauty and structural integrity.
